Stuff You Need to Bring

Here is a short list of things that you absolutely must bring. For everything else please refer to the official Duck Pond Survival Guide

The Crucial

  • Drinking water! 1.5 gallons per person per day.
  • Tent / 1 foot Rebar & Caps or Long Tent Stakes
  • Sleeping bag - Thermarest/padding or Inflatable Mattress
  • Food for the rest of your meals (only one meal a day is cooked by you and the other ducks)
  • Headlamp
  • Money for Ice
  • Cooler for your personal food
  • Goggles, dust mask, water bottle. NEVER LEAVE CAMP WITHOUT THESE
  • Bowl/Cup if you don't like biodegradable disposal ones..
  • A chair for seating at the table. Table height is 30 inches.
  • Eating utensils! Fork-knife-spoon, plate, bowl, cup, and whatever else you need to get sustenance into your mouth.
  • Sunscreen/Lip Balm
  • Trash bags
  • Sharpie to mark your stuff
  • Warm fun gear for night
  • Lighting to make You and your Bike visible at Night


Duck Pond Requests

  • Fill your gas tank in Gerlach (last stop before Black Rock City). We will be sharing gas to run all of our electricity.
  • At least one bottle of alcohol for the bar
  • At least one large non-refrigerated mixer, like pineapple, ruby red, orange etc
  • 2.5 gallons of water per person/per day for drinking and showering

The Recommended

  • Work gloves
  • Sunglasses + extra pair
  • Earplugs + Eyecover
  • Duct tape
  • Pen
  • 2-3 Nalgene no-leak water/liquid bottles. 1 for water, 1 for alcohol, 1 spare
  • Camera, but only if you don't mind it broken/completely dusty (ziplocs protect some)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Baby wipes (VERY useful)
  • Enough socks + underwear to last the week. There is no laundry machine!
  • Sunshower (or, put a 2.5 gallon jug out in the sun for the day, makes it nice and warm)
  • Extension cords/power strips
